INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your instructor will give you  the material you need to work on to achieve your next level.  Different people will have different areas that will need work.  There is no set place in the curriculum that one should be at any particular level of apprentice.  Other than the material your instructor gives you to work on and the curriculum; the requirements for promotion are as follows:

  Apprentice Levels

At least 10 seminar hours with Guro Inosanto

Attend the Warrior’s Way International Camp

Attend the Warrior’s Way Int. Apprentice Weekend

Continued growth and development in the Martial Arts

Begin teaching and testing students

   Instructor Levels

At least 5 hours of Teaching Classes at Warrior’s Way

At least 20 hours seminar hours with Guro Inosanto

Attend the Warrior’s Way Int. Full Instructor Weekend

Attend the Warrior’s Way International Camp

Continued growth and development in the Martial Arts

If you meet all criteria you should be able to request promotion every year.  Two months before your certification expires (at Apprentice Instructor Camp) you should check with your instructor for an evaluation of your progress.  If  he feels you have met the criteria then he will suggest you write a letter   requesting promotion.  If for some reason you have not met the requirements, you should write a  letter requesting a continuation.

One important thing to remember is that ultimately Tuhon Harley will decide whether or not you will receive a promotion or continuation and he bases his decision on many things.  Promotion is not based solely on your meeting the written requirements for the next level.  It is heavily influenced by your personal relationship with your instructors in addition to your personality, character, knowledge, skill and technical levels.  One of our main goals is to keep an open line of  communication with each and every student.  It is important to stay in contact with your instructors and keep them        updated on what you are doing both personally and within your martial arts training.  If for some   reason you will not be able to meet the criteria for promotion, you should inform them of your situation.  As long as you communicate with us about your situation you may still be able to request promotion if you are unable to meet some of the criteria.

It is your responsibility to notify the organization of your intention EVERY year of your intention to continue or promote if you wish to remain active in the Instructor Program.  If we do not receive your letter, you will be put on the probation list for one year.  If your probation period expires you will be moved to the inactive Instructor list until you contact us again.

We are honored that you have chosen to become a member of our organization.  Your instructorship is more than a title.  You are a representative of Warrior’s Way International, Tuhon Harley and every Instructor in the organization.  As a WWI Instructor you will be expected to surpass all standards of excellence.  We expect our Instructors to have not only martial arts ability, but good character and personal standards.  WWI is dedicated to helping you reach these goals by providing top of the line instruction and access to one of the top JKD organizations in the country. You are now associated with some of the best martial arts systems in the world and have a direct link to the Masters and Grand Masters of those arts.
